Surrey homicides have IHIT working around the clock

By

SURREY (NEWS1130) – A recent string of murders in Surrey is keeping the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team busy.

The IHIT team says they have enough internal resources to deal with the spike in investigations, with help from local police.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound says the team has had to put in overtime with the multiple homicides lately.

“I don’t think this is the worst we’ve seen.  We’ve seen homicides occur in a conjested period of time like this before.  We have the resources to get through it, and we’re getting through it now.  We rely heavily on those jurisdictions where the homicides are occuring,” she explains.

There have been eleven homicides in as many weeks in Surrey.

The most recent, the body of a woman found in a home earlier this week on 103A Avenue near Old Yale Road.

A relative of the victim has been arrested.
