Four years later: No sign of Wendy Ladner-Beaudry’s killer

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Four years later, her family is still searching for answers.

Wendy Ladner-Beaudry was found dead at a popular park at 41st and Marine Drive in 2009.

There are still stark reminders of what happened when Ladner-Beaudry was found next to a popular trail, where a police poster remains.

The family of the 53-year-old and investigators continue to look for any information that may help them solve the case.

Sergeant Jen Pound with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says there are literally hundreds of people on their “person’s of interest” list.

She says it consists of people that live near the park that have a criminal past that haven’t been cooperating with police.

“The homicide isn’t linked to any other homicide we are investigating. It is a very difficult investigation in that there is no motive,” says Pound.

She says this a not yet a cold case “We have the initial team of officers and one of our investigative teams consists of anywhere from 10 to 12 people. That team is still dedicated to this investigation.”

Ladner-Baudry’s family and friends are renewing pleas for help and information.

“It is extremely difficult to walk into a homicide investigation and not have a motive.”

The victims brother, a former Vancouver city councillor, Peter Ladner has spent four long years making the same plea.

“We would like to ask anyone who is out there who might have any idea of somebody they know that might be a little suspicious in that park, Pacific Spirit Park, who might have some idea that somebody they know would be involved to please come forward,” he says.

Ladner-Beaudry’s husband, Michael Beaudry, was a prime suspect until police said in 2011 that there just wasn’t enough evidence to link him to the crime.

Police have interviewed hundreds of people and received hundreds of tips during their investigation.

Her family has offered a $30,000 reward for any information on the killing.
