IIO completes investigation into serious motorcycle crash

VANCOUVER ISLAND (NEWS1130) – We don’t know if charges have been recommended against a Mountie on Vancouver Island, but the new Independent Investigations Office says it has sent a report to Crown Counsel.

It’s based on a crash between the officer and a motorcyclist near Campbell River in December, when the rider who was speeding and not wearing a helmet lost control.

He ended up seriously hurt when he collided with the Mountie’s cruiser. It’s not clear if the officer followed protocols and the IIO says the Crown will decide if charges should be laid.
