MONTREAL (NEWS1130) – A judge has ordered accused killer Luka Rocco Magnotta to stand trial on a first-degree murder charge in the death of Chinese student Jun Lin.
Quebec court Judge Lori-Renee Weitzman has concluded there is enough evidence to send Magnotta to trial. Her decision in Montreal today comes after a lengthy preliminary hearing that featured 32 Crown witnesses.
The defence presented no witnesses. Evidence presented at the hearing is subject to a publication ban.
Magnotta is accused of killing and dismembering Lin. Two of Lin’s body parts were mailed to schools in Vancouver.
The Crown says it is happy with Weitzman’s decision and that the trial will take place in 2014.
