VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Civic politics seems to be the starting point for several MLA candidates, but if those politicians are successful it could cost taxpayers, forcing by-elections especially in the Lower Mainland.
If the candidate in your riding is elected as an MLA, they could choose to hold on to both seats but that’s not very common.
“We would be forecasting an election for October of this year if one of the candidates were successful, so we’d only have one by-election so it doesn’t matter how many of the three are successful,” says Angila Bains with the Corporation of Delta.
Approximate by-election costs
