VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Consumer confidence is falling, according to a survey, but people in BC are by far Canada’s most optimistic.
The Conference Board of Canada says its index fell 4.9 points this month to 75.6, which it says “marks the continuation of a disconcerting trend.”
Confidence has been down in six of the last seven months. Yet in BC, consumer confidence rose 2.5 points to 105.7, the only region above 100.
The board says consumers nationwide are showing a considerable amount of worry about their finances, and are much more pessimistic about future job creation in their communities. But BC’s reading was driven higher by positive responses to questions about future finances and major purchases.
