ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – As the temperature goes up typically so does the rate of crime.
Constable Ian MacDonald with Abbotsford Police says even though it is tempting to leave windows and screen doors open, you have to be careful.
“Of course if we create opportunities for bad guys they will often take them and in better weather conditions you will see more bad guys out and about looking for those opportunities.”
He suggests locking everything before you leave the house, even if it is really hot outside. MacDonald adds you should also safeguard your valuables from thieves.
“As we trend into warmer weather and more pleasant and enjoyable weather, we have to make sure we keep our valuables locked up and that would include things you would find in your house, in your shed, in your garage; there are valuables in there and there will be people looking for opportunities.”
