MISSION (NEWS1130) – People living near Cherry and Stave Lake in Mission have have been pushed out of their homes because of a gas line fire.
Fortis BC says about 20 houses are affected by the evacuation.
Mike Holgate and his family grabbed what they could and rushed to register at the Civic Centre.
“We’re fine, it’s just that we’ve never been kicked out of house before! It’s sort of a surreal thing you know. I just hope it’s going to be there when we go back.”
He says he couldn’t smell any gas but heard two explosions earlier this afternoon.
No word on when people will be allowed to return home.
