IHIT no longer assisting in Toronto baby murder case

By

SURREY (NEWS1130) – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is no longer assisting Toronto Police in a case of a woman accused of the first degree murder of her baby.

The baby’s body has never been found.

IHIT’s investigation yesterday took place along the railway tracks in North Surrey along Highway 17.

Staff at a Toronto hospital contacted police on May 23 when Angelica Spanidis came in after she gave birth, but the baby was not with her. After an initial investigation by police, the case was turned over to the homicide unit.

Police aren’t sure where the baby was born, but believe Spanidis killed the child after giving birth.
