Top five selected in BCAA Dry Grad Video Challenge

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – Teens are helping each other to learn about the dangers of impaired driving.
A dry grad video contest that started in September is now down to five final schools.
Langley high school student Sidney Cowling made one of the videos for BCAA‘s Dry Grad Video Challenge.
She believes thanks to programs like this and guest speakers, the message that drinking, drugs and driving don’t mix is finally sinking in. “We even had this man who brought in the crashed car and talked about the car accident and how his son passed away. It was super powerful, so many people cried. This year I have seen no drinking and driving in my grad class at all.”
Cowling chose to shoot her video in a funeral parlour to show teens the consequences of their actions. “I don’t think they really think about the after affects and how much it can affect other people around you. For sure, it will stick with you but you’re not really thinking about how you are affecting someone else’s family and friends.”
The school behind the winning video will receive $6,000 to go toward their dry grad celebrations.
