SURREY (NEWS1130) – Charges have been laid and the investigation by Vancouver Police continues after a 22-year-old Surrey man was arrested following a series of alleged concert ticket frauds.
Police started to look into the scam after they received reports someone was using Craigslist to advertise and find buyers looking for concert tickets.
Most cases involved a buyer that e-transferred funds into a bank account or email address given by the suspect and got concert tickets in return. Others had face-to-face meetings where tickets were exchanged for cash. Those tickets were discovered to be fake.
There were also a number of cases where no tickets were provided at all and the seller broke off contact once money had been electronically transferred.
Amritjot Singh Randhawa has now been charged with six counts of fraud under $5,000 and one count of use forged documents.
Randhawa will appear in court late January.
Anyone who thinks they were sold fake concert tickets by Randhawa, or attempted to purchase tickets from him, and has not spoken to police, is asked to call VPD non-emergency (604)717-3321 and report the incident.
