VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – We won’t get a break from the cold weather this weekend.
The Arctic front is still hanging over much of the province, with temperatures down to minus 15 this morning in the Fraser Valley with wind chill.
More of the same tomorrow with overnight lows of minus 10 and below around the Lower Mainland.
The north and central coast will also see strong winds with parts of the Kootenays seeing temperatures of minus 35 Celsius with wind chill.
As temperatures drop, Fraser Health is reminding you to check-on any seniors who may be in your life.
Tasleen Juma with Fraser Health says many seniors don’t leave their homes when it gets this cold. “There’s a real risk of isolation that can lead to depressions and other issue. There is also concern over them not getting their medications filled or groceries.”
“This time of year is tough for a lot of people, especially those who have mobility issues, they’re concerned about slipping on icy sidewalks,” she adds.
