AirCare test fees being reduced

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you still have to go through AirCare, you won’t be paying as much to get your car tested during the last year of the program.
The fee is being cut after a request from the province.
Starting in January, the test fee for 1992 and newer cars and trucks will be reduced from $45 to $36.
“We looked to reduce that fee knowing that the program still has to be revenue neutral. So, the program has to pay for all of its own expenses and end up at a net zero at the end of the year,” explains Dave Gourley with AirCare.
He says vehicles from 1991 and older will still pay $23.
Starting in February, the fee goes down by $2 per month for newer vehicles, and $1 a month for older ones.
The AirCare program will be phased out by the end of 2014.
