Security guard slashed at mall

VANCOUVER(NEWS1130)- A frightening afternoon in a mall busy with holiday shoppers.

A 37-year-old security guard from Coquitlam remains in hospital in stable condition after being slashed at Kingsgate Mall in Vancouver.

Police say at around 4:45 this afternoon, the security guard confronted a possible shoplifter who had left a dollar store.

That’s when the 29-year-old woman apparently pulled a knife and slashed the security guard in the arm.

She then left the mall, followed by a witness and was arrested a short time later.

Weapons and aggravated assault charges are being considered.
