South Fraser Perimeter Road open to traffic

SURREY (NEWS1130) – After years in the making, the South Fraser Perimeter Road is fully opened to traffic.
The new four-lane route links Tsawwassen and Deltaport with Highway One in Surrey, with limited access points along the way.
Delta-Richmond East MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay and BC Transportation Minister Todd Stone were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony today.
“The SFPR is a key part of our commitment to expanding our markets and improving the safe and efficient movement of goods and people,” says Stone. “This new route is a game-changer for industry, commuters and tourists – it will cut commute times for families and make BC more competitive by connecting key port and rail facilities with access to borders, the Tsawwassen ferry terminal and the BC Interior.”
The Government of Canada, through the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative, provided $365 million toward the corridor. The provincial government provided the rest.
