Canucks going into Calgary hot and rested

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Christmas break is over for the Vancouver Canucks. They’re in Calgary this afternoon at 4:30 to play the Flames.
Vancouver hasn’t played since last Sunday; a 2-1 win at home against the Winnipeg Jets. The Canucks have nine wins in their last 11 games (9-1-1).
Despite playing so well heading into the break, head coach John Tortorella says the break was good for the team.
“We needed to get away,” says Tortorella. “We played a lot of hockey, a lot of timezones, have had some injuries along the way here, so it was a perfect time for our break.”
Eddie Lack will get the nod in goal in Calgary. Roberto Luongo left last Sunday’s game in the first period with an injury.
Joacim Eriksson has been recalled from the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League to back up his countryman.
Lack says he wants to take the starting job one game at a time.
“I played once there [in Calgary] before, so I know the building and everything, and just try and get two points out of there.”
Lack’s first career NHL start came in Calgary; a 5-4 win for the Canucks. He’s 6-2 on the year, with a .928 save percentage.
