British hiker rescued from Mt. Seymour

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A female British hiker is no worse for wear after being rescued from Mt. Seymour.

Tim Jones with North Shore Rescue says a helicopter and field crews were able to locate the young lady hours after getting lost near Boulder Creek and calling 9-1-1 for help.

Jones says she had barely any equipment. “She had a flashlight, she had a warm coat. Again, she’s a British tourist and we’re going to talk to her and find out exactly how she got information about this area.”

He says it appears as if she didn’t have much sense of her surroundings. “I think she just got off the bus and started hiking just generally up from the Parkgate Shopping Centre area and then into this very remote boulder drainage in the Lower Seymour trail system.”

Jones says she wasn’t injured.
