LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (NEWS1130) – Here’s something driving and tech enthusiasts will be excited about: The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette will have an integrated video recorder.
It’s being featured at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
“People can get something called a performance data recorder; it’s a camera mounted on the rear-view mirror facing externally that can actually record track times — or just driving times on the street — and overlay that with telemetry data. This is the first system in the industry that [does that],” explains Stefan Cross, who speaks for Chevrolet.
“Say you’re an amateur racer or a driving enthusiast, you’ll get very integrated, very detailed feedback on your race times, track times, when your best lap was, when you should have been using more throttle and less brakes, what your highest RPMs were,” he adds.
There’s also an SD card in the glove compartment.
“So, after you go on the tracks and after you’re on the roads, you pull out the SD card, upload your video [to a computer] and analyze your driving style,” explains Cross.
