Curved TVs being showcased at CES

LAS VEGAS (NEWS1130) – One of the big trends at CES in Las Vegas is the curved TV screen. Companies are betting on it changing the experience in terms of how people watch television.
“LG really designed the curved TVs, both our OLED and UHD TVs to have that more immersive movie-viewing experience. If you’ve ever been to the theatre and you see that immersive big-screen experience, it’s on a slight curve to really immersive you into that movie-going experience. We want to bring that experience home for the consumers to enjoy.”
He believes LG has addressed the issue of ratio from flat TVs to curved ones.
“We really tried to do a moderate or slight curve; moderate enough that it still keeps that immersive experience, but not overly done to the point where it may take away from your viewing pleasure,” he tells us.
Andrews says distortion is not a problem. “Not at all; in fact, it actually enhances the viewing angles, especially for consumers sitting in that typical living room environment. It really does enhance from edge to edge that overall viewing experience.”
