VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Is your resume covered in cobwebs? A new survey shows many workers say it’s been at least five years since they touched their resume.
The survey from Accountemps found about one-in-five people will be looking for a new job this year and of those at least three-quarters expect it to be challenging.
When you are applying, make sure you have a clear, concise cover letter which complements the information on your resume.
If you are changing up your resume, experts say instead of an objective statement, try an executive summary of your relevant skills and always highlight key accomplishments.
And if you do land an interview, don’t bother sending a handwritten note afterwards instead send an email to say thank you. You may also want to hone your interview skills as many companies will conduct multiple interviews before giving you the thumbs up.
As well, make sure your social media sites, especially LinkedIn, are up to date.
