ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – A new movie is raising a stink in the Fraser Valley.
An Abbotsford filmmaker is screening a documentary tonight chronicling the infamous chicken manure controversy.
Kevin Miller started the film as a profile on two activists, but when the manure incident happened he suddenly had more.
He says he quickly became disillusioned by the public face of those at City Hall compared to what was really going on behind the scenes. “At the point that I interviewed Mayor Banman it hadn’t yet been revealed the chicken manure decision was something made by a number of city departments, rather than just one or two individuals. The revelation about all these demeaning emails from the Abbotsford Police Department had yet to come out either.”
Miller says although the film mostly follows two homeless advocates he tried to keep a balanced approach. “I have people in the film who represent the city, the police department, disgruntled people who are having to live next to places where people are shooting up all the time. I also have several members of the homeless community.”
The film will be showing tonight at Fresh Wind Christian Fellowship Church at 7 p.m.
