TransLink making progress in roll out of Compass Card

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – TransLink’s new chair says there’s no turning back on the Compass Card, in spite of some expected glitches.
By the end of the month, roughly 80,000 people are expected to be using the tap-in, tap-out system.
West Coast Express users will be up next.
TransLink Chair Marcella Szel assumes there will be more glitches as the system is introduced. “Which is exactly why we’re unrolling it slowly, so that as a glitch is found, we can fix it before we roll it out to the next group.”
Its introduction was slowed down last year after TransLink uncovered some issues with the online registration system. “We’re totally committed to Compass. I think it’s a fantastic system. It’s going to make a big difference, eventually for transit users,” she adds.
It may be summer before most transit riders switch over to Compass.
