Arrest made following attack on bus driver

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Transit Police say a man, well-known to them, has been arrested after Monday night’s attack on a bus driver at Surrey Central SkyTrain Station. The suspect was already out on bail for another offense.
Anne Drennan with Transit Police says the 23-year-old was picked up at his home after officers got a tip.
He’ll likely be charged with robbery and assault as well as breaching his bail conditions because he was charged in 2012 for attacking a police officer.
“The suspect is currently in custody with charges of robbery, assault and breach of recognizance recommended.”
Drennan adds it’s unfortunate that bus drivers need to constantly be on alert, and she calls the attack on this driver heinous. “So, in this case when the man got on the bus and began swearing loudly and playing loud music and he [the driver] asked him to stop, he would have no idea that the man would be inclined to walk up and punch him in the face.”
Drennan says the driver was hit really hard three times that his glasses smashed and became embedded in his face.
