“Parklets” popping up in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – What’s small, fun, and fits into a parking space in Vancouver? How about a city park?
“Parklets” have been popping up on local streets.
Gordon Price with SFU’s city program says they are actual little parks, squeezed into one, two or three street parking spaces. “It’s amazing! You can see one of them just off Main St., next to a coffee shop. You can see one in front of the Creperie on Robson St. There will be more, they’re certainly happening all around the world. What’s really great about them is that they really unleash creativity.”
They’re are generally paid for or supported by adjacent businesses, designed by the community, sponsored by the Viva Vancouver program and fun.
Price says they don’t affect traffic, they draw in people and they attract business. He calls it a win-win.
