Heavy snowfall possible along Coquihalla Highway

By

HOPE (NEWS1130) – A warning if you’re headed out on the Coquihalla.

Another dumping of snow could make travel difficult.

Bob Gilowski with VSA Highway Maintenance says up to 45 centimetres of snow is possible on the Coquihalla Summitt, near the site of the old toll plaza by the end of the morning. “We just want to provide a warning for the travelling public that it’s going to be a very snowy commute and we really want them to exercise caution. Expect your driving time is going to take longer than it normally would.”

He says he doesn’t expect them to have to shut down the highway. “We’re going to have all of our crews out, a full response, so our aim is to keep things rolling on the highway with the plowing crews that we have.”

Gilowski says up to 15 centimetres is also possible at lower elevations.
