NEB may extend deadline for pipeline hearing applications

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – The deadline has come and gone, and thousands of applications have been made to take part in hearings into the Trans Mountain pipeline proposal.
The National Energy Board is now considering re-opening the deadline for people to apply.
There were 2,127 applications made by last night’s deadline. But Burnaby MP Kennedy Stewart has convinced the National Energy Board to think about extending it because of suggestions about an alternate pipeline route.
“If Kinder Morgan is uncertain about their route, then they should make certain of it before they put their application forward to the National Energy Board,” says Stewart.
“It would be very difficult for someone to know whether or not they will be directly affected by this route if the route indeed has not been finalized,” he adds
The Energy Board has asked Kinder Morgan to comment and will hear again from Stewart before making its final decision.
Despite the number of people already looking to get involved, Stewart thinks there may still be others with an interest.
