SURREY (NEWS1130) – Four people are in the hospital after a fire early this morning at a townhouse complex in Surrey.
The building is on 159th Street near 88th Avenue.
The flames shot several metres into the air at the peak of the blaze. It took crews a couple of hours to knock it down, and a number of suites have been damaged.
There are reports some people jumped from their balconies to escape the fire.
The people who were taken to hospital have minor injuries; everyone else got out okay. It’s unclear how long it will take before people can head home.
There’s no word on how the fire started.
