Another portion of Newton complains about criminal activity

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Much like other people in the Newton neighbourhood of Surrey, families living in a low-income complex on 134 St. are now going public with their safety concerns.
They’re fed up about the prostitution-related activity happening on nearby empty lots.
Tina Lee has lived in the Greenbrook complex since 2009 and says while the situation has improved in the last few years, she still sees a lot of pimps.
And she says on one occasion a pimp approached her neighbour’s daughter. “The daughter had been walking down the street, and was asked if she wanted to join the prostitutes.”
She says the pimps aren’t as numerous as they used to be, but she says they’re better at hiding in the bushes and trees growing in the lots.
She believes those properties should be better maintained. “The lots themselves…whoever owns them has to clean them up. Cut out all that underbrush where the pimps can hide.”
She says drugs, theft and vandalism are also big problems.
She wants to see more security and more police patrolling the area.
