Westbound HOV lane closed on Port Mann Bridge

By

SURREY (NEWS1130) – The westbound HOV lane of the Port Mann will be closed until later this evening so crews can replace some of the snow-clearing collars.

Max Logan with the company in charge says there are about 20 to 30 collars on each cable but they’ve all been used. “We just want to make sure that we’ve got our collars reloaded and re-installed if this snowfall continues and we need to continue to use them.”

“For a typical winter in the Lower Mainland, it’s enough collars to last us through the winter. But, because snowfall is unpredictable and this snowfall, in particular, has gone on much longer than expected. Out of an abundance of caution we just want to make sure we take some collars and reload them at the top,” he adds.

The lane closure is in effect from just west of 152nd Street to just east of the Cape Horn Interchange.
