Body found in Abbotsford identified as missing Vancouver man

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – A body found at the Fraser River in Abbotsford this month have been identified as those of a man who went missing more than two years ago.
Barry Hinchcliffe, 44, was last seen in Mission in September, 2011. Police said the extended absence was uncharacteristic for the man who had regular contact with his family.
But Sergeant Adam Macindosh with IHIT says this isn’t a random homicide. “[He was] probably deceased in and around the time he went missing, although we couldn’t say for certain.”
Investigators are not releasing the cause of death nor information about body at this time.
Hinchcliffe is described as an independent businessman, but it’s not known whether he had ties to gangs or drugs.
Eight days after he disappeared, Vancouver Police said Hinchcliffe was last seen driving a grey SUV from his home in the Yaletown area and that he may have been headed to Mission.
