Ownership battle over Ikea monkey finally over

SUNDERLAND, Ont. (NEWS1130) – The ownership battle over Darwin the Ikea monkey has finally ended.
A woman who calls herself Darwin’s ‘mom’ has ended her costly efforts to get him back from an animal sanctuary.
That means Darwin stays with Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary in Sunderland, Ont.
Yasmin Nakhuda had spent tens of thousands of dollars trying to get the courts to return Darwin to her.
The cute monkey garnered headlines and sparked a social media frenzy when he escaped from Nakhuda’s car in an Ikea parking lot in Toronto in December 2012.
The sanctuary says it’s pleased the legal fight is over but there was no immediate word from Nakhuda.
