Crystal Mountain’s operating license suspended

KELOWNA (NEWS1130) – Crystal Mountain in West Kelowna remains closed and its operating licence has been suspended.
Last weekend four people on two separate chairlifts were injured when the chairlifts dropped to the ground below.
A female ski patrol employee is still in hospital with broken ribs.
Jason Gill with the BC Safety Authority says they’re still trying to determine what caused the accident.
“This chairlift was first put into operation in 1967 and was last inspected by BCSA on December 11th, 2013. While older chairlifts are generally safe when maintain properly, we are also looking at what conditions may have since our last assessment.”
Counselling for staff members has been organized and ski schools lessons have been rescheduled to next week.
