It’s almost time to ‘spring ahead!’

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Some people call it the worst weekend of the year.

We make the switch back to Daylight Saving Time on Sunday at 2 a.m., which means you’ll get one less hour of sleep as we “spring ahead.”

Sleep expert Colleen Carney at Ryerson University says there is scientific proof the time change hits people hard.

“You do experience jetlag: things like fatigue and difficulty sleeping… we’re going to experience sleep loss,” she points out.

“This is a mismatch between what time your body thinks it is and what time the clock now reads,” adds Carney.

She notes you can try to take the edge off by getting to bed a little earlier both tonight and tomorrow night.

Don’t forget: Turn your clock one hour ahead before going to bed tomorrow night.

You’ll have to wait until November 2nd to get that hour of sleep back.
