Langley gymnastics coach accused of sexual interference

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – For the second time in less than a week, a local sports coach has been charged with a sex crime.

John William Henry of Abbotsford remains in custody. The 32-year-old, who worked with members of the Langley Gymnastics Foundation, is accused of sexual interference.

Corporal Holly Marks says the apparent victim is younger than 16, but she won’t go into more specifics. “I really want to protect anonymity.”

Henry is expected in court on Friday.

The club is a popular one in the area; Marks says she doesn’t know if there are any other potential victims.

“We would never discourage parents from talking to their children… but we really want to minimize the panic level. We do believe we have the investigation well in hand.”

On Friday, a former Mountie and hockey and baseball coach was charged with sex crimes involving young boys.
