Stanley Cup riot prosecution far from finished

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It has been almost three years since the Vancouver Stanley cup riot, and while many have pleaded guilty, prosecution won’t be finished anytime soon.
Sixteen people are still awaiting trial but 80 per cent of those who were charged have pleaded guilty. Sentences have ranged from community service to jail time.
“The fact that there’s been a significant number of guilty pleas, I think, reflects that the cases that were put before the court in relation to those individuals… the accused recognized that there was a strong case to be met,” explains Neil Mackenzie with the Crown.
So the question is do people in Vancouver still care?
“I’ve moved on, I don’t think about it regularly,” explains one woman.
“I have completely moved on from it, it was three years ago. Stupid people are going to do stupid things no matter what,” adds one man.
“I feel like people have moved on and we’re better than that now,” says this woman.
“It’s over with, childish games,” says one man.
