Canucks trade Bieksa to Anaheim for second round pick

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks have traded Kevin Bieksa to the Anaheim Ducks for a 2nd round pick in 2016. Vancouver tried to move the defenceman at last week’s NHL draft, but a deal with the San Jose Sharks fell apart in the eleventh hour.
Bieksa had one year left on a deal that pays him $4.6-million a season. He is expected to sign a contract extension with the Ducks in the next few days. The deal will reunite him with his former teammate and good friend Ryan Kesler.
Bieksa was originally drafted by the Canucks in the fifth round in 2001 and quickly became a fan favourite. He ends his career in Vancouver colours with 597-games and 241-points. He is sixth all time in points among Canucks defenceman.
