WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) – One person is dead after a crash on the Sea to Sky Highway.
Another person has been taken to the hospital.
Whistler RCMP Staff Sergeant Steve LeClair says it happened at around 9 a.m. “We were notified of a collision on Highway 99 just north of the Callahan Forest Service Road. Two vehicles collided at that location.”
“One of the vehicles went off-road and caught fire, with the driver trapped inside. The driver of that vehicle was deceased,” he tells us.
LeClair notes investigators don’t yet know if weather was a factor in the crash.
“It’s snowing lightly in Whistler… and there is some compact snow on the roadway, but I do not know if this contributed to this collision or not.”
The route was closed to traffic in both directions for most of the day.
