Site C Dam protesters continue hunger strike

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Environmental activists staged a symbolic hunger strike outside the BC Hydro building on Dunsmuir Street.

David Suzuki’s grandson, Tamo Campos with Beyond Boarding wants construction of the nearly $9-billion Site C Dam to be put on hold.

“We would never think of flooding the Fraser Valley but that is exactly what we are doing up north, and it’s also symbolic that we’re starving are form of justice for Treaty 8, like, this is reconciliation by pushing through a dam project when there are still court cases to be heard.”

Campos says there will be live bands and they plan to be outside the Hydro building everyday from 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Earlier this week, a judge ordered Site C protesters to leave a camp near Fort Saint John.
