VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Police say a 17-year-old boy has been arrested following an overnight home invasion near Sherbrooke Street and East 37th Avenue.
The early morning break and enter at the East Vancouver home left a woman shaken but unharmed. Investigators say she woke up to find a man standing over her as she slept.
This happened around 2 a.m.
She phoned police after waking up and finding that intruder in her home, reportedly pleasuring himself. It seems he was startled and then took off by jumping out a second-floor window. Officers, including the dog squad, searched the neighbourhood shortly after arriving on scene. Police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. They say they’re working with a significant language barrier.
Earlier this year, a similar crime took place around 49th Avenue and Knight Street. In that case, a woman woke up shortly before 4 a.m. to find a man standing in her bedroom. After a brief struggle, the suspect took off. Investigators deemed that incident to be sexually motivated.
