Vancouver man guilty of mother’s second-degree murder

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A Vancouver man has been found guilty of the second degree murder of his mother more than two years ago.

Brian Whitlock was accused of killing his mother, Barbara Whitlock, at her Dunbar home in November 2014.

The judge said the Crown had proved its case of second degree murder beyond a reasonable doubt.

She told the BC Supreme Court she did not find Brian Whitlock’s version of events credible. He had claimed he was out for walk and a smoke when mother was attacked.

More than two years before the killing, Whitlock pleaded guilty to animal cruelty after beating his two-year-old dog “Captain”.
