Teen injured in apparent targeted shooting in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – An 18-year-old man is recovering from gunshot wounds after a shooting on Mitchell St near Dehavilland Drive early on Sunday morning.

Police received a call reporting shots fired about 4:00 a.m. When they arrived they found the man on the ground with injuries.

He is known to police and it’s believed the shooting was targeted.

Constable Ian MacDonald with Abbotsford Police Department says the man was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

“The last medical update I have is that he’s in a serious but stable condition.”

MacDonald says a dark coloured vehicle was seen driving away from the scene.

“At this point in time, joining our patrol division resources are our major crime unit detectives and our forensic identification officers, and so this is very much an active investigation for us at this time.”

This incident follows the death of another young man in a shooting in Abbotsford on Friday.
