Tributes pour in after Bollywood actress Sridevi dies suddenly

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (NEWS 1130) – Bollywood fans have been left devastated this weekend after a popular, well-known actress died.

It came as a shock to many that Sridevi, while attending a family wedding in the United Arab Emirates, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.

She was 54.

Immediately, there was an outpouring of grief as fans and celebrities paid tribute, calling her death heartbreaking.

Many describing Sridevi as charming, graceful, and beautiful with a dazzling smile and her well-known expressive eyes.

Sridevi stepped away from the industry for a few years to raise her family, but returned with two well-received movies — the feel-good flick English Vinglish and the thriller Mom.

She began acting at the age of four and performed in several languages including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Over five decades, she starred in more than 100 movies, including Bollywood classics like Chandni, Mr. India, ChaalBaaz and Khuda Gawah.

In 2013, the Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri — the fourth highest civilian honour.

Sridevi leaves behind her husband and two daughters.
