Road, weather conditions likely factors in deadly Richmond crash

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – Mounties are still trying to figure out the reasons behind a fatal crash in Richmond over the weekend.

It happened on Highway 99 north of Steveston Highway early Sunday morning. RCMP say the car crashed into a highway sign before landing upside down and partially submerged in a water-filled ditch.

Police say heavy rain was coming down at the time of the crash. They believe road and weather conditions, as well as the driver’s experience may have been factors.

They don’t believe another vehicle was involved.

The woman was the only person in the car.

If you have any information about this crash, you’re asked to call Deas Island Traffic Services at (778) 290-2400.
