High-risk sex offender arrested

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A high-risk sex offender who didn’t return to his halfway house Wednesday night has been arrested.

Fifty-year-old Gerald Richard McLean is a two-time federal offender. He was convicted of sexually assaulting a child nine years ago, and a teenager in 1995.

He’s currently serving a long-term supervision order after completing a sentence for sexual assault.

Vancouver Police said Thursday morning that a Canada-wide warrant had been issued for McLean.

McLean has failed to return to his halfway house more than once before — the most recent time being in 2015.
