Woman on life support following North Vancouver shooting

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The victim of a daylight shooting in North Vancouver is on life support, police say.

It happened late this morning in the Lonsdale area, and North Vancouver RCMP are saying it wasn’t a random incident.

Witnesses heard gunshots shortly before 11 a.m. in an alley by Lonsdale and 12th. When officers arrived on scene, they found an adult woman with gunshot wounds. She was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

An arrest has not yet been made, but police say there is no ongoing risk to the public.

People are being asked to avoid the area of 12th and Lonsdale in North Vancouver while police work. The RCMP says the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Unit had been called in on the case, and will be working with the North Vancouver RCMP.
