Vancouver’s Holy Family Hospital declares third COVID-19 outbreak

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A long-term care home in Vancouver has declared a third outbreak of COVID-19, but no residents at Holy Family Hospital have tested positive.

The South Vancouver facility declared the outbreak Thursday, according to Providence Health.

A “single transmission” has been identified, Providence Health says.

“Outbreak control measures were immediately put in place at Holy Family Hospital to contain transmission and keep staff and residents as safe as possible,” reads a statement.

“Outbreak measures are in place for the long term care portion of Holy Family.”

Holy Family has two separate units, and the rehabilitation unit is not affected.

The care-home was devastated by an earlier outbreak that killed 21 residents.
