COVID-19: B.C. records 41 new cases, no deaths

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) — B.C. continues to report a downward trend in COVID-19 cases, with 41 people in the province testing positive for the virus over the past day.
Of the active 639 cases, 65 people are in hospital, of whom, 11 are in intensive care. Both of these numbers are down from Tuesday.
The Interior Health continues to report the highest number of cases during the daily COVID-19 update for B.C.
Health officials are also reporting, for the sixth straight day, no one has died of COVID-19 in B.C. — keeping the total number of deaths at 1,760.
Since the pandemic began, 148,228 people have been infected while 145,817 people who tested positive have recovered.
As for vaccines, 80.3 per cent of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 50.5 per cent have received their second dose.
Of the eligible people 12 years and older in B.C., 79.3 per cent have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 47.3 per cent have both shots.
Since December, 5,872,611 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and AstraZeneca have been administered.
There’s just one active outbreak at Surrey Memorial Hospital, but none in long-term care or assisted living.
