IHIT called in after stabbing death in Whistler

WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) — A 26 year old man is dead after a stabbing in Whistler early Saturday morning.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says it’s believed this is an isolated incident and it is not believed to be connected to gangs.
At around 2 a.m., Sea-to-Sky RCMP responded to the Whistler Medical Clinic after a man had presented to the hospital with stab wounds.

According to a statement released by IHIT, police arrived to the clinic and learned the man had passed away as a result of his injuries.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident, in what is normally a peaceful resort community,” says Corporal Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.

“There is no known risk to the public. Investigators believe there may have been witnesses in the area who have information, including cellphone videos and pictures, as well as dash cam footage.”
Police say through the help of witnesses, the Village Green, near Whistler Way, was “immediately secured.”
