Two separate crashes in Richmond have left two people dead and three people with serious injuries.
One crash was at around 9 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster Hwy and No. 4 Rd. A person was killed when a blue Kenworth truck and a white BMW sedan collided. One person was ejected from his vehicle, though police did not confirm whether that is the person who died.
Three other people were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The truck was carrying fish, which were strewn across the intersection following the collision. The area remained closed to traffic for most of the day.
Mounties do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in this crash. However, they are still looking into whether speed or driver inattention played a role.

Another person was killed in a crash that happened on Monday at 4 p.m. in the area of Alderbridge Way and No. 3 Road. The driver of a grey Honda CRV died at the scene when their vehicle collided with a school bus.
Mounties say the school bus driver was apparently not hurt. They stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
There were no children on the bus at the time.
“These very serious collisions serve as a reminder to all drivers,” said RCMP Cpl. Ian Henderson. “Vehicle collisions occur with more frequency this time of year, as fall and winter weather begin to affect drivers’ perceptions.”
“Good driving habits, like slowing down and paying attention to other drivers and pedestrians at intersections, can help prevent accidents like these from occurring.”
If you witnessed either of these crashes or have dash-cam footage of them, you’re asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
