Amos Findlay made his way to Abbotsford from his home in Vancouver Monday driven to help those impacted by the B.C. floods.
Findlay says in addition to helping sandbags, he is also conducting a unique fundraiser.
“I’ve been growing it for seven years now, and I’m going to cut it all off to fundraise for flood relief,” Findlay said of his full head of dreadlocks Monday.
Money raised will be donated to the Red Cross which is assisting in relief in the flood-damaged region at individual and community levels.

Thousands of people have been displaced, and thousands more animals have died after floods overflowed in the Sumas Prairie region in Abbotsford.
Other areas, including Merritt, Princeton, Hope, Chilliwack, and a community near Spences Bridge, have also experienced heavy damage and evacuation orders as a result of flooding.
Findlay says when he saw the devastation on social media, he was motivated to help in any way he could.

He worries that in a few months, the community support will wane, and he wanted to keep the attention on those who have lost everything.
“It’s one of those things that comes and goes on your social media, and it can be there for a week and then disappear but the affects stick around for a long time and there’s a lot of people who need help for a long time. So ya, just not forgetting that,” he said.
Findlay plans to cut off his dreads in the coming days.
Donations made to his campaign can be done online through his Instagram, or directly to the Canadian Red Cross.
